I recently had to make an important life decision. I'll spare the details, but sufficed to say it was a difficult choice to make and required much personal sacrifice. I was plagued night and day for quite a while before I finally came to my final decision, but I have done it, and a funny thing happened once I did. I felt good. It could best be described as a combination of relief and epiphany. I believe we make our own fates, but once the path has been laid before us, there is a certain joy in knowing that it is there. After all, life is a jungle, and having anything to alleviate some of the fear and uncertainty of each person's journey is welcomed.
To willingly give something up is not easy to do. An obvious statement to be sure, but it is still worth stating, just in case someone out there doesn't believe what all of those songs and movies are talking about. It was the one thing that Armageddon got right (that, and Aerosmith). The pain is inevitable, but without pain, we couldn't appreciate joy. It's true what they say that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. As long as you draw breath, there is always something to look forward to. I just wish more people saw it that way. And no, I'm not a manic depressive; just a deep thinker with too much time on his hands.
If life were easy, everybody'd be doing it.

Highs, Lows, and Everything in Between
Emotions are one of the most bizarre occurances of which I am aware. Primeval instincts meant to ensure our survival have now been cultivated into quite possibly the greatest and most inspiring mystery of our existence. I'm particularly fascinated by the inspirations that come to us when our emotions are high.
Whenever great joy or great tragedy strikes, we are vulnerable to the greatest truths, and yet they flee as soon life returns to normalcy. Why is this, and how can we retain this newfound wisdom? The answer is not a simple one, that's for damn sure. Maybe the simple act of recognizing this fact is the first step.
Another possible answer may be to try and live our lives in a constant state of emotional flux. I would have to disagree. Part of the reasons that emotions are so speacial is that they are fleeting. Happiness would lose its uplifitng sweetness, sorrow its bitter yet necessary sting. A constant state of one emotion only leads to a numbness and lack of drive. This is why the drug market is flooded with so many anti-depressants right now. We need a neutral bearing upon which to judge the highs and lows of life. Think of it as a calibrating instrument that measures whether or not we are on the right track.
It's all so subjective, and yet so universal. There is no emotion that has not been felt by countless others throughout the course of history. Yet everytime we feel something within us, it feels so special. Emotions are the ultimate affirmation of unity and individuality. So is your love unique and special? No, but go ahead and think so anyway, because its your feelings, so do wth them what you wish.

Type Two
My spring fever is acting up again, so I think I'll indulge everyone in another excerpt from my ongoing work Understanding Femalia: A Handy Taxonomy of the Female Species. Actually, Femalia is the genus, but "Species" sounds better for the title. Publishers. Go figure.
Attractiveness can be broken into two broad categories: cute and hot. Some use these terms interchangeably, but I will assume the position that they are distinct entities, although they need not be mutually exclusive. As is the case with virtually everything, these qualities exist on a continuum with varying degrees of overlap.
I will begin with "Hot" as it is the simpler of the two. Hot also frequently goes by the term "sexiness", and in some ways, this term does a better job at describing it. Hot is, in its most basic form, sexual attraction. It is a reaction that springs from the loins. It is immediate and intense. The first thing that a guy thinks when he spies a hot woman is something along the lines of "I'd like to hit that." Women that lean closer towards the "Hot" end of the scale also tend to intimidate meeker males. Despite this fact, hot is often the more desirable trait for which men look. Hot tends to lead to flash-in-the-pan relationships that are mostly sexual in nature. Hot, as the term implies, generates heat, leading to the potential for both warmth and burns.
Cute is more complex and much more difficult to define. Part of the trouble is that cuteness is much more subjective than hotness. It includes more than purely physical attraction. Cute encompasses a greater degree of a girl's personality. Many men describe cute women as, "long-term relationship" material. This is in no way meant to imply that cute girls do not possess sexual appeal; quite the contrary. It is merely a different type. Intimacy is more closely tied to cuteness. Cute is applied to many other things besides females, such as puppies, babies, and stuffed animals; imagine these types of images, then add the desire to procreate with them and you will have at least some understanding of Cute.
So, to summarize: you'll want to screw a hot chick all night, but once its over, you'll want to snuggle with a cute one.
